Power to the People Summit - Omaha

Join us for education and community building at our civic engagement fair! This event brings together grassroots organizations, NGOs, and community members to learn about and discuss legislation affecting Iowa, Nebraska and tribal nations in the area. We're setting up at the Hispanic Art Center of Omaha from 3pm-7pm on Friday, October 17th! See you there!

 

About the Event

The Power to the People Summit will feature:

 

Organization Tables: Meet representatives from organizations fighting for LGBTQIA rights, reproductive liberation, women's rights, DEI, and Environmental justice in Iowa and Nebraska. Learn how to get  involved in the movement and make informed decisions at home, in the streets and at the polls. 

 

Speaker Sessions: Hear from experts and activists throughout the day on key issues and legislation impacting our communities. Sessions will cover topics such as:

+ LGBTQIA rights and inclusive policies

+ Reproductive liberation and access to healthcare

+ Women's rights and empowerment

+ Disabled rights and empowerment

+ Police Violence and Abolition

+ US colonial violence around the world, such as Palestine

+ Tribal nation struggles and wins

+ DEI initiatives and strategies

+ Environmental justice and sustainability

+ Truth and Reconciliation commissions

 

Snacks!: Free snack tables loaded with chips, veggies, and fruit for all attendees. First 10 people through the door will receive free drink tickets for the non-alcoholic drink bar featuring coke products, horchata, and Jamaica products!

BINGO!: Join us from 5-6pm for Bingo and win cool swag and cash prizes!

Kid's Activities: Keep the little ones engaged and entertained with fun activities and educational resources.
