The acre of land that the Great Plains Action Society’s Resilience Hub sits on 804, 810, and 824 Maiden Lane, 815 Gilbert Court, and 410, 416, and 418 East Benton Street.
The land was liberated in October of 2025.
The Resilience Hub is a community-centered space. Currently, the Hub is used for community focused events, a de-colonial Mutual Aid and healing garden, and housing for volunteers. The space will be transformed into teaching kitchens,

offices, entrepreneurial launch pads, event spaces, a healing justice center, an eco roof and parking lot, and guest housing. The non-native grass at the Resilience Hub is being returned to its natural, prairie state.
In alignment with the philosophy of ReMatriation, the Resilience Hub will be continuing to use the buildings already on the land. The transformations of these buildings has and will continue to be a labor of love.
IN THE MEDIA
GPAS has hosted four work weeks, and multiple work days and weekends, to repair and ReMatriate the buildings. The progress seen and felt at the Resilience Hub would not be possible without the support of our community, relatives, and volunteers. Volunteers for work weeks came from all across Turtle Island, including California, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Rhode Island, and all over Iowa. Through the transformation of our current guest houses, we have been able to host and feed our volunteers, lessening the financial burden of those who have shared their time and effort with us.

Our work weeks have covered everything from prepping land for urban farming to creating a gallery space prior to an art show. Our work weeks go beyond physical labor, forming connections between people on a similar mission of ReMatriation, and forming connections to the land.
